We began using our Christmas party stations beginning in the month of December. We will continue running these ten stations until Christmas break. When I have the time to learn how to post pictures, I will add photos of what these stations look like.
Station 1 – Sticker Search – I have inflated the swimming pool for our “bed of balls.” I purchased the balls at Walmart and Toys R Us. Its surprising to me how many balls this swimming pool will hold! I will keep the pool inflated probably until Spring Break. We will use it as a station in a variety of ways. For the Christmas party station, I placed six Christmas stickers (candy canes, tree, Santa, holly, smiley face Santa, and snowman) on six balls. I drew pictures of the stickers on six 3″X5″ cards and taped them to the wall. The students step in to the pool and use their station time to find all six balls. If they find all six, they each get a ticket. (Teachers use the tickets for various rewards in the classroom).
Station 2 – Christmas Tree Hole Punch – I set up a small Christmas tree in the corner where this station is. I purchased several hole punches at Michaels that punch a Christmas tree shape. I cut construction paper of various colors in 1″ X 6″ strips. The students punch the Christmas shapes in the construction paper. Afterward, I will tape or staple them together to make a paper chain to decorate the tree and walls.
Station 3 – Jump and Spell – Students jump on the trampoline while looking at M-e-r-r-y C-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s spelled on the dry erase board and spelling it.
Station 4 – Christmas Tree Bean Bag Toss – Students toss three red bean bags at the bean bag board I have covered with white butcher paper and drawn a Christmas tree on.
Station 5 – Santa’s Sleigh Ride – I taped two scooter boards together. One student sits upright on one scooter board while resting his/her legs on the other scooter board and holds on to a hula hoop. The other students pulls the student by holding on to the hula hoop and walking in a small circle to take Santa “around the world.”
Station 6 – Spin board
Station 7 – Bowling – Students roll a rubber bowling ball at three plastic bowling pins.
Station 8 – Christmas Scene Board Work – Students draw a Christmas scene, Ex: gingerbread house, Christmas tree, snowman, on the dry erase board using only triangles, rectangles/squares, and circles.
Station 9 – Chimney Roll – Students crawl in to the barrel and climb out on a mat where they somersaut or log roll to the end.
Station 10 – Christmas Memory Game – Students take turns turning over two cards (out of 12) to find a match. The cards have the numerals 1 – 6 and Christmas items (1 snowman, 2 Santsa, 3 trees, 4 ornaments, 5 candy canes, 6 presents)
